Life of Messiah – conflict over the question of eternal life. Luke 10:25 – 29 The lawyer was testing Jesus. Leviticus 19:17 – 18 The part of the Old Testament that the lawyer quoted. Jesus told him that his answer was correct. The lawyer asks “who is my neighbor?” He was trying to get Jesus to state that Gentiles are included as a neighbor. Luke 10:30 – 37 Jesus tells the story of the good Samaritan. Luke 10:38 – 42 Jesus and the group enter a village. Martha was serving while Mary sat to listen to Jesus. The village is Bethany and Lazarus is their brother. Jesus gives a lesson in hospitality. Luke 11:1 – 4 Instruction in prayer. Jesus gives a review in what we now call “The Lord’s Prayer”. We are to pray for the kingdom to come soon. Luke 11:5 – 13 Another example on how to pray. The Father will give the Holy Spirit to those who ask for it. One needs to have some measure of the Holy Spirit to be within the Ekklesia. Pray to be filled with the Holy Spirit.
