Ekklesia present – 1 Corinthians 12:28, Ephesians 2:19-20, Ephesians 4:11 – Two common positions to these verses are apostles and prophets. What is an Apostle? Pastors, evangelists, and teachers are part of the Ekklesia today. Apostles may not be for today. They were a group of men at a specific point in time. Luke 6:13. Acts 1:21-26 demonstrates that the Apostles were only for that time. Disciple means “follower”. Revelation 21:14. More evidence that there is a total of 12 apostles for all time. 1 Timothy 1:1 – Paul identifies himself as an Apostle. In addition, the New Testament uses the word apostle in a generic form. Galatians 1:19 seems to be calling James an Apostle.
